Basketball – Teams

LEVELS

Instructional – Kindergarten through 2nd grade

The Lopatcong Athletic Association offers one hour sessions at the Lopatcong Elementary and Middle Schools from November through March. Consist of 12 sessions. At both schools, the players are able to get the feel for the full court as well as the opportunity to play in a gym where the baskets can be lowered to accommodate their age and height. The sessions include working on fundamentals of passing, shooting and dribbling through an assortment of drills. Each player will receive their own Lopatcong Basketball practice shirt to play in each session.

Non-competitive – 3rd grade

In order to transition the instructional basketball players into full court competitive games with neighboring teams, the CBL League offers non-competitive basketball for 3rd grade teams. Games are shortened to four 6 minute quarters with the clock stopping halfway through each quarter for substitutions. There are no playoffs or standings at this level. The season will consist of 2 practices a week from November through March. Teams will play a total of 12 games made up of a combination of home and away games as assigned by the CBL. Traveling to other towns is involved.  Games are held during the week and on weekends.

Competitive – 4th grade through 8th grade

Participants age on September 1 will determine level of play assigned to.

The season will consist of 2 practices a week from November through March. Teams will play a total of 12 games made up of a combination of home and away games as assigned by the CBL. Traveling to other towns is involved.  Games are held during the week and on weekends. Teams may qualify for playoffs based on standings in their division.

A minimum of 8 kids, maximum of 12 kids per team. In order to field teams at all levels, kids may be moved up a grade level.

Competitive – 9th grade through 10th grade

The season will consist of 2 practices a week from November through February. Teams will play 6 home games and 6 away games. Traveling to other towns is involved.  Games are held during the week and on weekends. Teams may qualify for playoffs based on standings in their division.

Teams at this level will only be considered if there are enough players signed up.
